On the 15 June 2012, the California Air National Guard’s 163rd RW/FTU Grizzly’s had a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the new Launch and Recovery/Maintenance facility at Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville California. The all new facility, with hanger space, offices, Ground Control Stations, and Ground Data Terminals takes the Grizzly’s launch and recovery operation from the” trailer and portable” facility stage to a modern, world-class maintenance operations and launch and recovery facility. What a synergistic compliment to the world-class MQ-1 schoolhouse operating at March Air Reserve Base.
Beside the normal pomp and circumstance to accompany such an event, a live aerial feed of the ceremony was broadcast from high overhead via Remote Operations Video Enhanced Receiver and an overhead MQ-1B aircraft monitoring the ceremony. A poignant demonstration of the Predator weapon systems unique capability with a Grizzly trained crew compliment… there isn’t anything we can’t monitor.
